About Our Lodge

A historic lodge with a rare Louisiana story.

Perseverance Lodge No. 4 traces its origins to 1806 at Jérémie, Saint-Domingue, under a charter issued by the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania. After migration through Santiago de Cuba, the Lodge established itself in New Orleans and became one of the five lodges that formed the present Grand Lodge of the State of Louisiana.

Its former temple at St. Claude and Dumaine Streets, completed in 1820, is one of the most important Masonic landmarks in Louisiana history.
