Historic images connected to Perseverance Lodge No. 4, its historic temple, and the preservation of one of Louisiana’s oldest surviving Masonic landmarks.
Perseverance Lodge No. 4 during the redevelopment period surrounding present-day Armstrong Park in New Orleans.
The historic temple associated with Perseverance Lodge No. 4 was completed in 1820 at St. Claude Avenue and Dumaine Street in New Orleans.
The structure is recognized as one of the oldest surviving Masonic temple buildings in Louisiana.
During redevelopment of the surrounding Tremé neighborhood and the creation of present-day Armstrong Park, the historic lodge building remained standing and was later preserved as part of New Orleans’ architectural heritage.
The building remains an important connection between Louisiana Freemasonry and historic New Orleans.
